Tim's Tags ~Days 6 & 7

After stalling on Tim's Tags day 6, I finally got going again.  Day 6 tag didn't really appeal to me.   I totally struggled with it.  In the end, I decided to go with a black and silver tag...

Tim's Tags Day 6

I started by sticking some tinfoil to card and using a CB folder embossed it.  I then swiped it with black ink and then clear embossed it.  I ended up having to buy a new Versamark pad as the black didn't dry well.  At this point, I left the tag as I really didn't know what more to do.  Today, I relooked at it and thought how to finish it.  I added some grey adhesive edging, some bakers twine, a stamped image of a girl and a little Christmas-y tag, with some black and cream pearls.  Not that Christmas-y, but at least I tried some of Tim's techniques.

So then I moved onto Day 7's tag.... more to my liking.

Seasons Greetings ~ Tim's Tags Day 7

I used some Distress inks on my craft sheet to make the background.  I then stamped a border from a HA set to give the idea of fabric.   I stamped and embossed the Tim Holtz sentiment and cut out.  I then coloured three pearls with Red Pepper alcohol ink and tied with tinsel and some tulle and lace to form a bow.  I stamped some cut out some Holly leaves and punched some twigs.  I used Pine Needle distress ink to darken my green card.  Added tulle and ribbon and gems at the top of the tag.

So just 5 left to do.    I wasn't up to much more today as I am getting a cold... been sneezing and coughing all day... didn't get much sleep with the coughing last night. Hopefully tomorrow I'll feel better.

Take care and have a great weekend.

Teenage Birthday

One of the cards I did yesterday was a card for a niece turning 14 on the 2nd January.  I really enjoy using my "The Greeting Farm" stamps for teenagers.   For this card, I chose to use a stamp from the "Sweet and Toxic" set.

Sweet and Toxic

I stamped the girl and used Copics to colour her in.  I trimmed around her, and mounted her onto some purple PP.  I used a scrap to stamp the Hero Arts Sparkle Clear set sentiment onto and used a small Spellbinders label to cut out.   The background chervon card is from a DCWV mat pack.  The flower is made with some punches and blue paper.  The glittery ribbon under it was rescued from the Christmas Crackers we had at lunch on Christmas Day.... I knew that my family now understand I'm a crafter, as they saved all the ribbon and bits that I could use.

This is now on it's way to Lisa.  I know she doesn't visit here, so I am safe showing you.... but the other card I made for my Mum's birthday, will have to wait...

Today, our weather has turned cold and windy, so have been inside getting ahead with my design cards for Mygrafico.  Got three weeks done.  I've also been adding cards to my Pinterest boards... so many beautiful works of art out there.  My Tim's Tags have stalled as I got to Day 6 and didn't like it... must move on!

Hope the rest of your week goes well...
Take Care

55 years of Wedded Bliss...

My parents are celebrating their 55th Wedding Anniversary tomorrow ~ 29th December.  Last week, while we were talking about it, I surprised Mum by bringing out her wedding dress.... a pretty blue chiffon shirt-waister.  I have had to for a few years now... wore it once when I was in my teens.... but couldn't now.... Mum had a waist of around 18 inches when she got married...

Here is the card I made for them

Anniversay card

I saw this delightful image over at Mo's Digital Pencil and knew straight away I wanted to use it for their card.  I used distress inks to as watercolour to colour it in.   The background paper is actually from A Vintage Christmas by Meg's Garden.  I made sure I covered the part that said Season's Greetings.  I just loved the roses round the edge.  I used my new Martha Steward punch( Thanks Mum and Dad, a great Christmas present) and made some red felt roses with a Dienamics rolled roses die.  The sentiment was printed on the computer and then cut out with a Spellbinders tag die.  I'll be giving this to my parents when they get back from a few days away.

I am entering this into Simon Says Stamp ~ Anything Goes challenge.

I had a great day.... got this card finished, made Mum's birthday card ( her birthday as the 4th January) and one for our niece whose birthday is the 2nd January.   Tomorrow, I'll do the housework as the weather is going to be horrid.   Christmas Day and Boxing Day were amazing.   Christmas night there was an amazing sunset.

Well I'm off to watch Muriel's Wedding on TV.  Looks like a fun movie.

Have a great week...

My favourite 5 Christmas cards....

Did you have a good Christmas Day?  I did... got lots of super presents, including a new watch I wanted, a book, perfume (by Sarah Jessica Parker called "Dawn" ~ how appropriate!) and a new deck chair amongst other things.... Christmas Day was hot and sunny and we ate our brunch and lunch out doors.  Just wonderful.

Now that Christmas is over it's time to think about the cards I've made for Christmas...  Over at Debby's blog, she is having a little challenge... to show off those favourite Christmas cards.... So here are mine.... in no particular order
