Summer Lovin'

************************************************************************************

It's Summer over at Die Cut Divas and I have a cute card to share that uses an image from our Sponsors

I started with a piece of water colour card and used some yellow and orange Gelatos which I blended with a baby wipe.  Once it dried, I embossed with a corner flower folder.  I printed the image and sentiment onto the white card, die cut it and coloured with Copics.   A real fun Summer card.

Do hop over to Die Cut Divas.... there is still a day or two to play.

Ribbon and Twine at Southern Girls Challenge

It's time for another challenge at Southern Girls Challenge .... use Ribbon or twine.
Our sponsor this time round is Digital Doodles.

I've used Shy Girl for my card.    Used some sheer organza ribbon with some twine to hold my little tag.

White on White...... and a few bright colours

Sharing today some of my weekend cards..... first up is the card I made for the Altenew monthly challenge

The theme is White on White focus point.

I used an embossing folder and an Inside Out Diffuser to make my background.   I then used Altenew inks in the Warm Gray shades - Morning Frost, Moon Rock and Evening Gray to stamp the flowers and leaves (from a Freebie called Christmas Rose) and the sentiment in the Lava Rock.   I added some extra dots in a gray Metallic gel pen.

And now for a couple of more colourful cards.

This is using Catherine Pooler inks and stamps.  The banners are from one of latest stamp sets from the Naturally Inspired box paired with a sentiment from an earlier SOA box.

and here are two I made using Gelatos.  There is a Masterclass over at StampNation -Creative Mediums for Card Making- by Faber Castel.  The first video was about using Gelatos.  I have had mine since 2012 - but don't use them nearly enough.

For the first one I used watercolour card and spread a variety of Gelato colours.  I blended with a damp baby wipe.  Once I laid the stencil over it, I used the baby wipe to remove some of the Gelatos, leaving the bold colours beneath.   I used the feather from the SOA box with three CP inks (thanks to MISTI for doing my blending) and fussy cut.  I also added a die cut BEST cut from some more Gelatos on watercolour paper.  To make it stand out, I off set it against a black die cut.

And the second one, used the left over Gelatos on the stencil, which was spritzed and laid onto the watercolour card.   This gives a much more subtle background.   I added a flourish down one side and after colouring some yellow and orange Gelatos onto card and punched some butterflies.   The sentiment is from Kaisercraft.

I also managed a couple more cards for some upcoming design work so all in all... a very creative weekend.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting me.

Coffee Lovers (and Tea lovers!) Summer Blog Hop

http://coffeelovingcardmakers.com/2017/06/2017-summer-coffee-lovers-blog-hop/
Welcome.... Did you notice my title... That's because, although I make a mean cup of coffee, I don't drink it.... I'm a herbal tea girl, so my card today is tea related.

I was inspired by a card my friend Janet had given me for my birthday.  She had done a similar design in pinks.   Obviously I've gone with a blue theme.  My sentiment is different and my cup is as well.... so thanks Janet for the idea.

I used some PP from a Rosie's Studio paper called Flourish.  I like the old fashioned look so strove to make a High Tea card.  I stamped and fussy cut the teapot (from a freebie set with a magazine)  It does have a matching Teacup die but I chose to use a die from Kaisercraft for my cup today.  I added the doily.

I'm adding this to the Coffee Lovers blog hop so welcome to any new viewers.  Please stay awhile and have a wee look around.

Also adding to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - use Patterned Paper.

So bottoms up and lets share a cuppa of char!

Hero Arts Digital Butterfly shaped card

It's my day to share at A2Z Scrapbooking again this month.  Our challenge is all about Shaped Cards.

Here I have taken one of the pre-coloured images from the Flutterbies digital kit  available in our A2Z Scrapbooking store and supersized it.   I cut it out twice and glued it together on one side.   I took the pre-coloured version and enhanced it with some Prismacolor Pencils.  Nice and easy and such fun to make a shaped card.

Stamp of Approval Box has arrived.....

I decided to give myself a birthday present and purchased the latest Stamp of Approval box.   And it arrived Friday.  I had ordered on for my friend as well but when she arrived to pick it up -  2 dies weren't in the box ... however the support team advised me that they will get them in the post Monday...

Anyway I got a couple of cards done over the weekend...

there is a bit of a story about this first one.  It started life as single layer card.... made for a challenge at StampNation - black, white and a colour.  The blue is the new All That Jazz colour in the box.  Such a pretty teal colour.   I had done my masking and stamped the wild flowers - first and second generation stamping and then stamped the script along the bottom... I didn't check the orientation of the stamping and realised it was upside down.   I had put too much effort into it so a change of design...and a layered card.  I cut off the bottom piece and put it up the correct way and layered onto some black card.

My second card is a bit more graphic

I used a small stamp from the Medallions set and stamped it in various colours of Catherine Pooler Inks.  I then die cut the Spirograph die from spotty vellum, embossed the wishes and added a die cut best.   Very simple but effective.

I did another one late this afternoon, but still have to photograph.    The box is AMAZING with so much in it... 3 4x6 stamp sets, 1 bigger one, three dies, a glitter embossing powder and an ink pad...  so many different ideas.

Hope you all had a great weekend.  I celebrated  my birthday with a family dinner out at a very up market restaurant.  Sails is very nice.... Hubby had organised a cake and we took some photos of us before we left for dinner.

thanks for visiting today

Have a Magical Birthday

Our challenge this month over at Die Cut Diva is Summer Fun...and Bugaboo is our sponsor.

My card today is a birthday card for a youngster ..... the colours are summery and lots of fun

I used a Pretty Pink Posh border die to cut my panel.  I printed the unicorn out and after I coloured it with Copics and then fussy cut and used dimensional tape to pop it up.  I sponged around the edge with some blue ink.   The base is a pretty aqua-green

Let the Celebrations start..............

My birthday is next week, but I've already started celebrating.  Saturday I got to spend the day with my stamping friends.... we meet at Lei's house... just 5 of us in total but boy did we have fun!

Sandie had got the Beautiful Day stamp set from Altenew and wanted me to teach her how to use them.  So I made a card to show her.... and then she was away!  She did a whole pile of card fronts with lots of different colours, using my Altenew inks I have.  Now she is looking to buy the inks as well.

Here's the card I made

I also got a few more cards made

Lots of flowers for the day.  All the flower stamps are from Altenew.  The middle one is with some dies from Couture Creations.    The sentiment on the far right is from Kaisercraft.   The leaves are stamped in grey ink and the flower is popped on some dimensional tape.

Sunday, my friend Yvonne organised to take me to High Tea at The Langham Hotel.  It was awesome

The food was AMAZING.... there was soooo much.  This was for two of us to share and then there was a plate of two scones each with clotted cream and jams.  I have to say that I brought home a box of some of the bits home for my son.

This was an awesome start to my birthday week.  And Yvonne and Micheal gave me this beautiful Lily

Have a great week everyone and thanks for stopping by

Floral Bliss

On Monday I didn't get much stamping done but managed one before having to tidy up and head home.

I did another card with Floral Bliss from Simon Says Stamp.

I masked off a panel in the middle of my card and did some stamping... selecting part of the stamp so as not to have the side leaves overstamping each other.  I used my Prismacolor pencils to colour.  I edged the mask area with a black sharpie and stamped the sentiment from a Lavinia Stamp set.

I had a really good weekend... a total of  10 cards made.   And this Saturday I'm meeting with my group of friends for a full day stamping.

Sunday I am off to have High Tea at The Langham ( an Auckland hotel that does High Teas in their foyer area.  My friend is taking me and a few friends to celebrate my birthday which is next Wednesday.  It's my 60th and I'm freaking out a bit!   We have a lovely family dinner planned for the 17th - going to a posh restaurant in the city.  That I am looking forward to!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend

Hero Arts Shaped Card

It is my day at A2Z Scrapbooking and our challenge this month is Shaped Cards.

I've used my favourite Layering Poppies stamp set to make my card. My card base is made with by die cutting two Spellbinders dies and glued them together at the top.   I trimmed a smidgen off the bottom curve on the back to allow the card to stand up.    I used some Patterned paper for my inner panel.   On a separate piece of card stock I stamped the poppy in Hero Arts inks - Soft Cantaloupe and Punch Chalk (discontinued) and Distress Ink - Aged Mahogany.  The stem is in Emerald  Green.   I used the matching dies to cut out the Poppy.

I did have a little mishap when stamping the sentiment.... as I went to pull the sentiment off the backing sheet (it was the first time I used this sentiment) and I tore it!

With much butting and wiggling, to say the least, I managed to get the sentiment stamped.

The a2z scrapbooking store carries a wide variety of Hero Arts products! Get discounted new releases, sales, grab bags & more. Proceeds from our store benefit Celiac & Behcets disease foundations. Use my discount code Dawn15 to get 15% off your purchase of $25 or more. If you're looking for a Hero Arts product you don't see in store, use the Request Custom Order button from within the shop.

Hope you will join us and share your shaped cards.

Day 2 of my long weekend

NOTE: PHOTO HEAVY POST

Hi.  Day 2 of my long weekend was a continuation of Day 1... lots of crafting.  So here I go - hope you enjoy seeing my creating.

This one was made as I had shown my friend, Michael, what my Cuttlebug does.  I took the oval die cut and sponged it with some yellow ink.  The flower and leaves are from Altenew stamps.  And my sentiment is from a freebie set of sentiments and is embossed with Liquid Platinum powder.  The background panel is embossed with a folder.

Number 2 is still a work in progress... I think it needs a little something something to finish it.

I made the background with some pink and grey inks... using a technique I saw at Splitcoaststampers... using inks, water and a credit card.  I really like the result it gives.  I'm thinking I might add some silver embossed smaller stars on top of the black ones... not sure yet.

The next two cards both use the same stamp from Penny Black.
First one I made quickly to give to Maeve - a friend of our friends, who stayed Saturday with us at Mangawhai.

I used MISTI and a variety of inks and markers to stamp.  Add a little sentiment and it was done. - Adding this to the Anything Goes challenge at Penny Black and More

And for the second one I stamped the branch and flowers at a different aspect

I added a blue watercolour wash behind it.  I didn't use watercolour paper so the background pilled a bit and warped so I trimmed it down and used lots of double sided tape to hold it down on my base card.

This next one was a quick card I made with one of my colouring book pages that I had done two weeks ago while at Mangawhai.

And my final card for the day was a KISS card inspired by the "5" challenge at StampNation.

I used Altenew Halftone Circles and some stars together with Catherine Pooler inks.  Love the vibrancy of the colours.

So if you made it to the end....Thank You.... Hope you enjoyed seeing my creativity.

Day 1 of my long weekend

It's Queen's Birthday weekend here in NZ which means no work Monday.  we have come up to Mangawhai to our friends place.  being a three day weekend I brought some crafting supplies.  Micheal  generously set me up a table in the nook

I as the weather was not condusive to being outside I just played.  New stamps arrived on Friday just before we left so I had to play with them .  I got Floral Bliss from Simon Says Stamp and my first two cards use the bouquet stamp and some watercolouring.   I used different watercolour mediums on each one.

This one day a mixture of distress reinkers and stains plus Zig markers.  I added some distress Mica spray in Tarnished Brass and Brushed Pewter as my splatters.   my sentiment  was not planned to be where it is but when I was drying the splatters I scorched the card, so I gold embossed the sentiment from an Altenew set on a strip of black card.

This second one I've used Pearlescent paints to colour so in a much softer colour pallette. This stamp set is so pretty.

Next up is a card I've been thinking about for awhile.   It turned out almost as I envisaged.

I used MFT die cut to the window. I took the window and used some paints to colour and put it back into the die  before adding the little flowers from the Altenew set called Adore You. I coloured with green Copic and fussy cut. Then added the sentiment  on a thin strip of white card.

And last up is a quick card I made with a Tim Holtz stencil, some yellow inks and a Stampin' Up! stamp and a freebie sentiment.

All in all,  a great days  stamping,   Finished the day with friends sitting round the outdoor fire being serenaded with Irish songs.

Thanks for stopping by.  More stamping happening today!

Next up my sample for Die Cut Divas.  - Summer Fun

This is a cute little Pup enjoying his day at the beach..  I used a scallop diecut from Catherine Pooler to cut the panel
